In last week’s Accountancy Age magazine were several interesting articles examining women in the profession and the surrounding issues. But there was little comparison between firms on the issues raised. It was more a profession overview with specific biographies.
I would be interested in reading an article comparing the amount of maternity/paternity that each of the top 50 firms offer. Rather than just fee income etc. Actually, in recent years, there has been more information. But a league table of this sort would surely encourage firms to offer better packages for staff.
Perhaps there is an opportunity for a journalist to investigate and complete a more detailed comparison of what firms offer staff?
Or maybe I am asking this because I have told my boss that my wife is expecting and I thought my loyalty would count for more that the statutory £112.75 for two weeks. (Memo to self: should have joined a bigger firm with stated policies).
